Romeo's Family

Romeo
Romeo,
“R”, is 2 and one half years old and carries 4th
generation of deafness in the family. On his birth day, 13th of
September,
his parents and his older coda brother, Lancelot, were anxious to have
Romeo
in our family. Romeo weighed
11 lbs and was an amazingly healthy boy
regardless his fraternal twin didn’t make it in earlier
pregnancy. From
the first
day he came home with his family, “R” has
always
brightened our days everyday with his huge smile and is laughable.
R
was a
proud prince when he and his family and friends celebrated his 1 year
old
birthday at his home in the backyard.
Romeo had great toddler years. He
has
always been a busy toddler. R enjoys outings and participates in
various
activities.
R signed a few words and has slowly regressed with his ASL
around
at one year and half years old. R has begun some
gazing and started not
signing from time to time regardless of the fact that his entire
family’s primary language is ASL.
At age 2, Romeo was
officially
diagnosed with Autism. R and his family have worked hard together to
defeat
ASD from
day one of his diagnosis. R has been receiving 15 hours of
therapies
every week with different signed therapists. Romeo
has been remarkable
with
different therapists who enter his life everyday. Romeo goes to two
playgroups with the Learning Center for Deaf children and his hometown
community group. R did not let his ASD interfere him as R continues to
eager
to get his attention from his family. R also continues to bring his
charisma
in the family and his communities. Romeo is
excited to be a student at
the
Learning Center for the Deaf children in September.
